Medications to calm our anxieties can keep us up at night
Sometimes doctors will prescribe medications—anti-anxiety medications and antidepressants—to help combat certain types of anxiety. But the cure for one problem may become the cause of another problem. These medications can cause wakefulness at night that might make sleep difficult. If that problem occurs, doctors can change the time of day the medication is taken or prescribe a different type of medication.
