The worldwide increase in allergy may be because our environment is too clean
All over the world allergies are on the rise. One medical theory about this is called the Hygiene Hypothesis. It suggests that our environment is so clean that our immune systems don’t have enough work to do to protect us from germs. So it tends to overreact to little things that would otherwise be harmless like pollen, animal dander and dust mites.
